Are you related to Drum Richard?
This board seems to have really gotten kind of ugly lately. I don't remember it happening before (in the time I have been on).
Perhaps there is something evil in the water? [img]confused.gif[/img]
Anyway, I hope we can relax -- and get back to just talking a little drumming.
The mood in here just moves in cycles. Who cares? Just like in real life. Think of a relationship with a girlfriend or wife. Is everything always going to be perfect? NO.
Ugly? nah. I think there are times when people feel they have no where else to go to proove a point, so they make personal insults. That's not cool.
However, a heated disussion where many have valid points, is what boards are all about.
I watched this board for weeks before I joined, and quite honestly, it should have been titled Vinnie and his fusion buddies. But now, it's crossed over into everything. I love it. In one year, many new people have joined from around the world.
Well I don't object to this topic....and I don't enjoy "ripping" on other drummers....like Shags said "for fun"........however...I think it is lame when we see drummers making a living from mediocre playing....especially when there are guys out there who have dedicated their lives to fine tuning their craft who really deserve that gig.....

Degas, the only people making a living from mediocre playing are a few drummers in bands that only kids listen to. And really they're not making $$ from playing, it's more from the publishing of their music. You can't blame the drum companies for pushing these people in ads, because they just want to sell drums to kids. That's the largest drum market. Beginner line kits. So if they're to making the gorgeous maple drums we love, we have to put up with it, so they don't go out of business. Most people don't buy 3-5 g's drum kits. They buy thos $800 beginner lines.
Independents that make a living are never mediocre. They always have at something that they do that keeps them in the studio or on tours.

Notice that there are to sections that are dedicated to Vince and Weckl?? Ok. That is because this website is primarily dedicated to those two drummers, along with the fact that we like to consider ourselves and our topics/conversations not part of and "above" the typical kiddie arguments that happen on other forums.
Steve has stepped in before and made this very clear (hope you don't mind me speaking for you Steve), and if you don't like it. Well its your bag. But to insult the various pro drummers with amazing resume's & this board as you and your friends have is out of line.
Peter will probably not respond to your question on the other thread. As most busy working guys wouldn't. As Vince once told me, "I don't have time for arguments about what Jazz is because I'm busy playing it". I think that speaks for itself.
I don't have any personal issues with you man. Just keep from insulting the board and the great input that comes from many here. Hopefully your friends can do the same. We can all agree to disagree. What works for you may not work for others. It's all subjective in the long run.

HOD dedicates this site to VC & DW...& ALL those who are "takin' it to the cleaners"...but we can't name EVERYONE under the banner!...so, we jes gots two of 'em. A mighty fine two, if I may say so.
Just the fact that Hass, Ersk, Husb, or anyone else is mentioned AWA included on a board dedic'd to Vinnie & Weckl, [& perhaps, vice-versa], is testament to ALL these guys abilities. We wouldn't even be speaking of them otherwise [unless they were terrible & undeserving of accolade - which they're most def not!]...like we do in the poke fun at so & so threads..ALA is doesn't get to that one KA level! /;cP
Diversity is cool...& a good thing.
